OC Fair Double 5K Series - July and August 2010

My friend Dana & I found this great 5K "series" that was being held at the Orange County Fairgrounds. The 1st one was on opening day, July 18th, and the 2nd one was on closing day, August 15th. You got a regular medal at the 1st one, then a 2nd medal that attaches to the 1st, making it a "Double Medal". Pretty unique and fun.

It's odd doing a fitness event and running by these! :-)

And we'll never forget the ripped sports bra girl. Maybe it's a "lucky bra"? :-0

Congrats on the 5Ks!!! I keep saying I'm going to to rain to run them but get as far as walking with sporadic sprints before I get frustrated...
How long have you been running?

I've been doing races for about 3 years, but here's the deal! I walk the whole thing! You'd probably be surprised at how many walkers there are in endurance races. I did a full marathon (26.2) walking also. The downside is being out there longer, but it works for me! If you ever want to train to learn to run, there's a great resource out there called "Couch to 5K". You can Google it, just don't fall for paying for it. There are free ones out there. Also lots of helpful sites... www.runnersworld.com has some great articles, and www.runningoftheears.com (A play on "Running of the Bulls", and "ROTE" for short) is a great community of friendly people who like to do races. The latter started by people who love Disney and races, but we all do lots of other non-Disney races. Good luck!
